Once as a receptor on neurons, neuropilin 1 (Nrp1) is recently found to play a role in establishing immunological synapse and regulating immune response. Although Foxp3 had been well accepted as the marker of T regulatory cell (Treg), Nrp1 might serve as another reliable marker to distinguish conventional T cells from Treg. Moreover, Nrp1 has also been identified to have the potential to differentiate natural T regulatory cell from inducible T regulatory cell. Here we reviewed the structure and ligands of Nrp1 and its function in transplantation immunity.
