Sleep quality and its influencing factors in liver transplant recipients

Objective

To investigate the status of sleep quality of liver transplant recipients at home and to explore the influencing factors.

Methods

A total of 107 liver transplant recipients were selected from July 2019 to January 2020 in the Department of Organ Transplantation, the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat sen University. The general information questionnaire and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) were used to investigate.

Results

The total PSQI score of liver transplant recipients at home was [7(5, 10)]. About 43% of patients with PSQI>7 had poor sleep quality. Age, working state and duration of liver transplantation were the influencing factors of sleep quality at home (P<0.05).

Conclusions

The sleep quality of liver transplant recipients at home is lower than that of normal adults. The sleep quality of liver transplant recipients who are older, not on the job, and ≤2 years of transplantation need to be improved. Medical staff should pay attention to the sleep care of these patients and improve their sleep quality and quality of life.
