The management of organ transplantation ward during the COVID-19 epidemic: a single-institution experience

Abstract:

Corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) spreaded widely and infected a large number of persons when it occurred on December 2019. It seriously impacted our society and meanwhile brought great challenge to organ transplant ward management of hospital. Liver transplantation recipients may be more susceptible to COVID-19 than the general population because of hypoimmunity. So the management of liver transplant ward had its particularity. Medical staff in the department of liver transplantation, the Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University carefully learned the COVID-19 related control, diagnosis and treatment scheme and guideline which released by National Health Commission of the People′s Republic of China. So as to strengthen the self-protection of medical staff, make inpatient management procedures adapting COVID-19 epidemic status, improve the knowledge of the COVID-19 for patients and their family members, and eventually establish an effective management program for liver transplant ward. Through the fruitful ward management in the special COVID-19 situation, we hope to apply scientific treatment for every liver transplant patient and avoided the COVID-19 infecting effectively at the same time.
